The Best Dinner Party Playlist

Three Course Dinner | The Rose Table

I listen to the same playlist most nights when I’m cooking. There’s just something about old time jazz and swing that makes food taste better, at least to me! After a long workday there’s nothing I’d rather do then hum along to a little Frank Sinatra, Michael Bublé, and the jazzy soundtrack from one of my favorite films, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day.

The Best Dinner Party Playlist | The Rose Table
A three course dinner is best served with fresh flowers and a little jazz.

Music can really make a dinner party. Suddenly it becomes an event instead of just dinner. I listen to pop and rock when I’m running, walking my dog, and driving, but jazz is the perfect fit for a dinner party because it’s so soothing and relaxing. Your guests should want to sit back, relax, and stay awhile. I love Uptown Funk as much as the next gal but it would be difficult to talk over.

I recreated my personal iTunes playlist on Spotify so that you can play it at your own dinner parties. Be sure and do volume check – you don’t want this playing too loud. (Unless of course you’re listening to it while home alone and belting everything out while stirring pasta sauce. Not that I do that most nights…)

Add the playlist to your Spotify account here.

Let me know if you have any jazzy suggestions to add to this 3 hour, 45 minute playlist!

Happy swinging,

  1. […] I thought about using a Halloween playlist for this but I didn’t want the music to distract. The minute I turn on jazz, I’m ready to entertain! Check out my Dinner Party Playlist. […]

  2. […] Of course I played jazz. Of course. Jazz is New Orleans. New Orleans is jazz. To me it would be impossible to serve any New Orleans food without a jazz accompaniment. Check out my favorite dinner party playlist here. […]
