Raise your hand if you’ve got travel on the brain! It’s not just me? Popular this spring is Cuba since airlines celebrated the travel ban lift with incredible roundtrip deals. Flights to Europe are also unusually low. We’re talking $400-$500 for London, Frankfurt, Milan, and Paris. The trick, I’m reading, is to fly back seven days from when you depart. Otherwise tickets are normal prices. What are my picks for spring travel ideas, you ask? I’ve got you covered no matter if you’re in the mood for the mountains, the city, the beach, something exotic, or just a quick Texas getaway.
Whistler, British Columbia
Calling all adventurers! Whistler, BC has something for everyone from hiking to biking to incredible seafood at Araxi. It’s even a gorgeous drive getting to Whistler from Vancouver. In fact, the Sea to Sky Highway is one of the most scenic drives in North America! Be sure to pop into Cow’s for incredibly creamy maple ice cream. After all, you earned it after a morning of zip lining! Read more my Whistler travel guide here.
New Orleans
Think New Orleans is only good for night life? Think again! New Orleans has so much to offer from a cruise down the river on Steamboat Natchez to jazz on every street corner. Take a literary walking tour and find the homes of famous authors such as Anne Rice and William Faulkner. Gawk at the eighteenth century antiques, grab some beignets, and tour the haunting above ground graveyards or “Eternal Cities.” Don’t forget to grab a hurricane at Lafitte’s, the oldest bar in the United States. Read my New Orleans travel guide here.
Turks and Caicos
I find a reason to bring up Turks and Caicos on a daily basis. Voted the world’s best beach in 2016 by TripAdvisor, Grace Bay Beach on Providenciales is a sight for sore eyes. Stay right on Grace Bay at Alexander Resort or stay on the quiet marina side of the island at tranquil Blue Haven Resort. Get a massage on the ocean and chill with a good glass of wine by an oceanside fire. A Caicos Dream Tour excursion is a must if you love adventure – after all, Caicos has the third best snorkeling reef in the world! Read my Turks and Caicos travel guide here.
P.S. We’re entering the Caribbean’s off-season. You can snag 25% off rooms at Alexandra Resort through May 31 here. Blue Haven Resort has up to 40% off here.
Nevis
My personal spring pick! The exotic island of Nevis is in the West Indies in the eastern part of the Caribbean and boasts a volcano, wild monkeys, and even cows on the beach. Nevis was the birthplace of Alexander Hamilton and is ripe with eighteen century history. I’m excited to stay at Montpelier Plantation and Beach later this spring as it was a favorite destination of Princess Diana’s. Be sure to follow @therosetable on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to tour the island with me later this year. Travel guide coming soon!
Montpelier Plantation and Beach is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and is celebrating with a special anniversary package: a five-night stay, daily breakfast, Swedish massage for two, private rainforest hike with an island expert, romantic picnic lunch for two at the resort’s private beach, a six-course tasting dinner in the 300-year-old Mill Privée, afternoon chocolate plate and a bottle of champagne served poolside, and a complimentary 50th anniversary gift. Price starts at $2,482 for a five-night stay. Based on availability, and restrictions apply. Contact reservations@montpeliernevis.com and ask for the Montpelier Golden Memories Anniversary Package.

Glen Rose
Dallas-Fort Worth readers, if you want a spring getaway but don’t have a whole week to spend traveling, pop over to Glen Rose for a weekend. Relax at Inn on the River, find treasures at the antique stores around the history square, and spend a whole day up close and personal with exotic animals at Fossil Rim. Read my Glen Rose travel guide here.
