What a spectacular evening! The Firehouse Theatre introduced their 2020 season at their second annual Curtain Call Gala. The formal dinner event had a Roaring 20s theme complete with a speakeasy, themed drinks, and fabulous flapper outfits all around. As a publicist (my real life job!), I’m proud to represent The Firehouse Theatre and was blown away by Curtain Call.

A silent auction took place on one side of the lobby, with trips, wine tastings, and other great items to bid on in support of the theatre. Dallas darling Denise Lee performed in the VIP speakeasy with her jazz band and an open bar kept the champagne bubbling next to the red carpet. Half the fun was the people watching. People really brought it outfit-wise!

One of the coolest things at Curtain Call was the lip reading. Lip readers (yes, you read that right!) asked guests to kiss card stock and then read their lips much like a fortune teller reads palms. The woman absolutely nailed my personality and everything that’s going on in my life. I was spooked! It was such a fun activity while we waited to enter the ballroom.

Dinner consisted of a simple green salad in a martini glass (you know at The Rose Table we love fun serving dishes), chicken with mashed potatoes, and assorted desserts.

During dinner, guests were treated to performances from the upcoming season, which includes The Drowsy Chaperone, The Wiz, Singig’ in the Rain, Amelie, Urinetown: The Musical, The 39 Steps, and Elf the Musical. My friend Mark Quach (whom I met promoting Brick Road’s Mamma Mia! last fall) co-choreographed Curtain Call and did such an amazing job! The dancing was insane. My favorite number was Umbrella, which announced Singin’ in the Rain. Shoutout to my friend Rodney for slaying every dance number. (No surprise there!)
