Alluvé by the Fire

Kuhlman Cellars Alluvé Review

Happy Wine Wednesday, Rosies! It was freezing cold in Dallas last week. We had several inches of snow on the ground for days and days. I stayed in watching movies with my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Henry warming my lap. I made a big pot of gumbo and chocolate banana bread and curled up by the fire drinking one of my favorite reds: 2017 Alluvé from Kuhlman Cellars.

I absolutely adore this wine. It’s Kuhlman Cellars’ best selling wine for a reason. It’s the perfect blend of Tempranillo, Mourvedre, Grenache, Petite Sirah, Carignan, and Sangiovese. It pairs well with so many things (it would be perfect with my beef ragout or baked vermicelli) but my favorite way to enjoy it is when I’m relaxing by the fire (indoor or out!) so I can appreciate all of the nuances of this wine.

The aroma is positively captivating and the sensory experience begins right when you uncork the bottle. I honestly would burn this scent as a candle! To me, Alluvé smells like raspberry, black cherry, red currant, with an herbal hint. It’s a rich, smooth red that’s easy to drink. It isn’t big and bold like a California Cabernet Sauvignon but rather soft and refined, an air of elegance in every sip. It goes down like smooth jazz. It’s basically the Jeff Goldblum of red wines! Could a wine get sexier than that? I think not. Get a bottle here and see what I mean.

Happy sipping,
