About Me

Who’s the writer behind The Rose Table?

Katie-Rose Watson, serious dark chocolate lover. Though I was born and raised in the Dallas area, my roots aren’t Texan. My mom is from San Francisco and my dad is from Seattle, so I grew up with a unique love of seafood and fresh vegetables that isn’t commonplace in every Texan household. I can’t even count how many times people have asked me, “Are you Californian?” at a grocery store, much to my mom’s delight!

I loved baking at early age, always eager to make a mess in the kitchen. (Sorry, Mom!) When I’m not in the kitchen (and writing about it), I work as a publicist and my clients know to come to meetings hungry! After work I like to curl up with my dog and a good glass of wine by the fire pit and cook dinner for friends.

I followed my brother to Texas Christian University (I’m that sister) where I majored in German and minored in Classical Studies. During college, I studied abroad in Greece, an experience that greatly influenced my style of cooking. One of my favorite ways to spend an evening is to have my friends over for dinner al fresco. Few things make me as happy as serving good food to good people…and traveling the world to try new dishes!

I’m avid traveler and love to write about my adventures here on The Rose Table. I love spending time in my garden, tending to my roses and growing my own food. It makes me so happy to harvest food from the garden and play croquet with friends while dinner’s on the grill. If you follow me on Twitter and Instagram (@therosetable), you can enjoy the garden right along with me during my coffee and happy hour!

I’m an equestrian and proud owner of two lovely horses, Prince and Wendy, who occasionally make appearances on The Rose Table. Prince (The Enchanting Heir, officially) is an American Saddlebred gelding and Wendy is a Friesian mare. I’m also the hand maiden to my very spoiled Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Henry.

    1. Happy to do so, David! My house is filled with treasures from Beauweevil’s. In fact, I ought to do a blog post about that! 🙂

  2. Hi Katie, my name is Lori Linnabery. Kasey Gosdin referred me to you. My husband Mike and I own the Inn on the River in Glen Rose. Kasey suggested it would be great if we could get together and show you the Inn and what it has to offer. Please take a peak at our website, http://www.innontheriver.com and consider a site visit, dinner on us one Friday or Saturday night or even better, an overnight stay to experience the peacefulness of Glen Rose and our slice of heaven. We are excited to share Inn on the River with as many people as we can. Thank you. We look forward to meeting you soon.
