How to Make an Easy Balloon Arch

Wicked Party

Wondering how to make an EASY balloon arch? My friend Rachel made these stunning balloon arches for my Wicked party and was kind enough to tell all of you how to do it too. These stunning arches stayed in tact for nearly a week before deflating!

Wicked Party Glinda Balloon Arch

Traditional balloon arches are made using two pairs of balloons (2 balloons tied together) twisted together to make a cluster of 4 balloons. You can stack them and secure using fishing line.

For my Wicked Ball, I purchased this green balloon arch kit and this pink balloon arch kit. A balloon kit typically includes a variety of balloons that are different sizes and colors, a balloon garland strip, and dot stickers to attach the balloons to the garland strip. Rachel also brought over a balloon inflater, which saves a LOT of time.

Note: it’s easiest to first set the garland strip first and then add balloons instead of adding balloons and then trying to hang a full balloon garland.

You can do a full arch but we thought these half arches made a fantastic impact without taking up too much room at the party. Mine were attached to walls but you can also find ballon arch stands on Amazon and many party websites.

How to Make a Balloon Arch

Balloon arch kit (balloons, garland strip, and dot stickers)
Balloon inflator
Extra dot stickers (optional)
Fishing line or a pack of long balloons (optional)

  1. Open balloon kit and organize balloons by color and size. Secure the garland strip to the area. We used a thumbtack to attach the top of the strip to a wall.
  2. Inflate balloons one at a time (starting with a few large ones) using the inflator and tie each balloon off. Then secure the base of the balloon through a hole on the garland strip.
  3. Alternate the balloons by placing one on each side of the strip. You will have a variety of sizes in your balloon arch kit. Most kits predominantly have more medium sized balloons, a couple large balloons, and then small balloons. You will mainly use the medium balloons for the arch, using dot stickers to stick smaller balloons onto the garland to make it look fuller.
  4. After your balloon arch is assembled, you can have some more fun with it by adding paper flowers for garnish!
