Who’s the writer behind The Rose Table?
Katie-Rose Watson, serious dark chocolate lover. Though I was born and raised in the Dallas area, my roots aren’t Texan. My mom is from San Francisco and my dad is from Seattle, so I grew up with a unique love of seafood and fresh vegetables that isn’t commonplace in every Texan household. I can’t even count how many times people have asked me, “Are you Californian?” at a grocery store!
I loved baking at early age, always eager to make a mess in the kitchen. (Sorry, Mom!) Once I stayed up half the night to bake 400 cookies for my high school drama club! When I’m not in the kitchen (and writing about it), I work as a publicist and my clients know to come to meetings hungry!
I followed my brother to Texas Christian University (I’m that sister) where I majored in German and minored in Classical Studies. (Read about my love affair with Greece here.) Somewhere along the way, I fell in love with beautiful Fort Worth, a city filled with culture and a thriving farm to fork movement. Now one of my favorite ways to spend an evening is to have my friends over for dinner al fresco. Few things make me as happy as serving good food to good people.
I love spending time in my garden, tending to my roses and growing my own food. It makes me so happy to harvest food from the garden and play croquet with friends while dinner’s on the grill. I’m an equestrian and proud owner of two lovely horses, Prince and Wendy, who occasionally make appearances on The Rose Table. I’m also the author of Little Gabby Books and the hand maiden to the mischievous Cavalier King Charles Spaniel featured in said books.
