With cheese fondue, luscious hot chocolate, and après ski vibes, this Alpine Christmas Party is hands down one of my favorite holiday party ideas to date. What’s better than bringing a bit of mountain magic to your home for the holidays? Especially if you live in a sunny state like me!

Huge thank you to my grocery partner Kroger for supporting The Rose Table and this recipe! It’s partnerships like this that keep The Rose Table going.

I was going for an après ski atmosphere so I served delicious mountain resort dishes and even played games by the fire! With hot chocolate in hand, a sparkling Christmas tree, and a roaring fire, I definitely felt like I was at a glamorous ski lodge at Christmastime.

The Table
I’m obsessed with this simple table! I really wanted a simple, timeless Christmas table. I decided to let my beautiful wood shine, opting out of a tablecloth in favor of a gorgeous red plaid runner paired with glamorous gold cutout placemats, Christmas greenery, and my tree trunk candleholders adorned with pillar candles.

The Place Settings
Four of the place settings were placed on fabulous gold placemats and the two ends were placed on the runner. I used my Emma plates from Pottery Barn and cream linen napkins tucked into silver reindeer napkin rings (only $9 for six!).

The Ambiance
Christmas party ambiance is always my favorite because unlike many of my dinner parties, my entire house is decorated for Christmas! For my Alpine Christmas party, I swapped out a side table in my dining room with a fabulous flocked Christmas tree and swapped my artwork out for a serene snowy scene.

I also decorated the dining room with a tree light on the wall and LIVE tabletop trees from Jackson & Perkins. These are such sweet Christmas gifts to send to your loved ones because they can actually plant the trees after the holiday! You can even use the code ROSETABLE15 for 15% off your order.

I wrote “Après Ski” on my chalkboard with a snowflake Hidden Mickey and hung Christmas garlands all around. I even pulled in a fluffy white rug I’ve had for 15 years to add a little snow to the ambiance and pictures.

The Fashion

The dress code my Alpine Christmas Party was après ski chic. I wanted everyone to look like they were fresh off the slopes! I wore black pants tucked into fabulous snow boots, a loose white cable sweater, fabulous fingerless gloves, and a white fuzzy hat. My best accessory though is always my dog, Henry!

The Drink

How could I possibly have an Alpine Christmas Party without champagne? There’s just something about bubbles and fondue! If you want a champagne cocktail instead, I highly recommend my French 75. The dessert, as you’ll see, was also a drink! More on that later.
The Food
Leaning into the après ski vibes, I served hearty snacks that you might find at a luxurious ski lodge or Alpine bar.

Best Ever Cheese Fondue

You can’t possibly throw an Alpine Christmas Party without fondue! I upped the cute factor by serving individual portions in these fabulous mini fondue pots. I served the fondue with Kielbasa sausage, roasted potatoes, broccoli florets, mini pretzels, and cherry tomatoes. Get the recipe here.
Alpine Hot Chocolate & Hot Chocolate Bar

The ultimate ski resort dessert! I served ultra rich hot chocolate with homemade cinnamon marshmallows, vanilla whipped cream, and a whole hot chocolate bar (get the tablecloth here) with peppermint sticks, cookie stirrers, cinnamon sticks, holiday M&Ms, holiday sprinkles, and more. Get the recipe for this perfect hot chocolate here.
Cranberry Pistachio Shortbread Cookies

Alongside the hot chocolate, I served my Cranberry Pistachio Shortbread Cookies. These savory cookies pair perfectly with the richness of the drink and are easily one of my favorite holiday cookies. Get the recipe here.

Another fantastic complement to the hot chocolate was refreshing Peppermint Snowball Cookies, which are also great dipped in your hot chocolate or even coffee! Get the recipe for these buttery balls here.
