I couldn’t believe how much was already blooming on opening week of Dallas Blooms! The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden dazzled with over half a million tulips, daffodils, hyacinths and other spring bulbs. According to the handy Blooms Tracker on the Arboretum website, the daffodils are at 50% to peak bloom, hyacinths at 60%, and tulips at 40% so there’s tons already blooming and tons left to see!

Plan on at least two hours to leisurely stroll through the garden, especially if you love taking photos! We walked about two miles. I highly recommend wearing walking shoes for optimum comfort.

What these photos don’t tell you is how wonderful the garden smells. The air perfumed with the sweet scent of hyacinth and daffodils. It’s aromatherapy for the soul after winter!

Cherry Blossoms
One of my favorite parts about springtime at the Arboretum is the cherry blossoms. The pink Okame cherry blossom trees are already in bloom. According to the Blooms Tracker, the famous Yoshino cherry blossoms will bloom in just a few weeks and the azaleas (and I’m sure, roses) won’t bloom until April.

Orchid Show
Don’t miss the beautiful Orchid Show (February 21–March 7) inside DeGolyer House. The limited-time indoor exhibition showcases rare and exotic orchids. The dining room alone would impress Queen Charlotte herself!

Restaurant DeGolyer
I try to never miss an opportunity to dine at Restaurant DeGolyer. There’s just something about a glass of wine in a garden that puts a pep in my step! We sat indoors (though garden seating is available) and ate marvelous crab cakes and burgers on brioche buns. Afternoon tea is also available.

Also part of the spring festival is the popular Cool Thursdays Concert series and the annual Food and Wine Festival, which might just be my favorite night of the year. Dallas Blooms, presented by Amegy Bank, runs now through April 12, 2026.
