Five seasonal tea services are offered at Dallas Arboretum‘s Restaurant DeGolyer, all of which are served at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. Price depends upon the tea service.

The service was well-paced in a charming room that never seemed loud despite being packed by the time I left. Restaurant DeGolyer has a New Orleans-style courtyard that I imagine is quite lovely in the spring!

Tea began with a tiny shot of carrot ginger soup. It was perfectly creamy and paired wonderfully with the cheddar cracker. I could have eaten a whole bowl of that soup. The tea pairing of vanilla mint was so delicious that I ended up purchasing some in the gift shop later to enjoy at home. (Pro tip: don’t skip the gift shop at Dallas Arboretum. It has all sorts of delightful finds!)

Next up was a three-tiered platter of tea sandwiches paired with peach cinnamon hibiscus tea. The blueberry cream cheese sandwich on cinnamon bread was absolutely divine and must be recreated for brunch sometime. Other favorites were the chicken salad in a crisp phyllo shell and the creamy cucumber triangle.

To finish, assorted cookies and sweet treats were presented with Early Grey tea. My favorite was absolutely the teeny tiny coconut cream pie. The scone was quite chewy (in a good way) but scone purists may wish for something more crumbly. Clotted cream is always a winner in my book.

If you find yourself in Dallas on a beautiful day, stop in for tea at Restaurant DeGolyer then burn off those pastries with a stroll around the grounds. Even on a bleak off-season day such as this one, the gardens are lovely.
