Ice Cream Party on the Dock

Thank you Brawny® Tear-A-Square® for sponsoring this post. Think of all the ways you can Put a Square There!

Nothing says summertime to me quite like ice cream. It’s the quintessential summer dessert. I have so many happy memories of ice cream sundaes after a day in the sun, so I decided to host a little ice cream party on the dock for some of my friends at my parents’ lake house.

The Ice Cream

Variety is key. I like serving pretty basic flavors so that people can have fun customizing their sundae with toppings. I served chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, cookies ‘n’ cream, and pecan praline at my ice cream social.

The Toppings

Fruits, nuts, and candy, oh my! How’s a girl to choose? I served chopped peanut butter cups, sliced bananas, sliced almonds, candy-coated chocolates, cookie sticks, chopped cookies, cherries, sprinkles, butterscotch sauce, caramel sauce, and my homemade Dark Chocolate hot fudge sauce.

Waffles Galore

If Ina Garten taught me anything, it’s that not everything has to be homemade. One super fun idea I had was to pick up waffle cones and waffles bowls from a local ice cream shop. One opened up right by my house so I swung by before heading off to the lake house and the waffles were a hit! It felt so festive to hang out on the dock with cones and luckily Brawny® Tear-A-Square® protected us from drips on a hot summer day. The Tear-A-Square® (quarter sheet) size is great for little messes like cleaning up caramel sauce without wasting excess paper towel. It’s also the perfect little size to catch your drips without adding bulk to your cone. Just grab a quarter sheet,  fold it into a triangle, and wrap the end of your cone up snug as a bug. The Tear-A-Square® size was also great for catching waffle bowl leaks – it fit just perfect under the bowls! I was shocked at how quickly the ice cream melted on the dock. Thank goodness we had rolls of Brawny® nearby!

The great thing about an ice cream party is that anyone can throw one, even if you aren’t a cook. It’s really about putting together a nice spread that begs to be dug into. I hope this inspires you to host your own ice cream social!
