Every Disney lover knows that everything tastes better shaped like Mickey Mouse, so it’s no wonder I’m obsessed with my new custom-made Mickey Mouse serving bowl.
Last summer my friend Irene and I went to a fabulous event at the Dallas Arboretum that featured tons of local artists. It was there we first saw Marbleized Ceramics, a talented Dallas potter. I got one of his mugs at that event and I just love it! Irene, being the most thoughtful person ever and a frequent guest at my Disney Dinners, commissioned Marbleized Ceramics to make this one-of-a-kind Mickey bowl for me for Christmas. I nearly fainted when I opened the box! I immediately recognized it as a Marbleized Ceramics work and squealed.
I’m working from the lake house with my mom this week and we brought the Mickey bowl for its maiden voyage: a magical sunset happy hour on the deck. Even chips and salsa and queso looked incredibly whimsical in this magical bowl. This queso, by the way, is from Sinclair Market in Winnsboro and it was DELICIOUS! If you want to make your own queso, you can get my recipe here. (I use the term “my recipe” loosely here as this is actually my friend Jason’s recipe. He was kind enough to share it with all of you!)
The wine for the evening was San Martiño Winery’s 2009 Tempranillo, which was out of this world with my lamb souvlaki the night before. The bouquet is so captivating, I almost wanted to sniff it instead of drink it! With dark fruit flavors and soft tannins, the terroir really shines in this vintage. and it’s aged to perfection. I might have to swing by the vineyard and get a couple more bottles!
Want a custom made Mickey bowl of your very own? Marbleized Ceramics takes custom orders on Instagram but I believe only takes local orders here in Dallas for the time being. Not local? Follow @marbleizedceramics on Instagram for shipping updates!
Huge thank you Irene for this magical, thoughtful gift! I’m sure you’ll see this Mickey bowl on The Rose Table again and again.
