Picking Blueberries at Blase Family Farm

Blueberry Picking DFW Blase Family Farm

I am officially in love with Blase Family Farm. I pick blueberries all the time out in east Texas (which of course was the inspiration for my Blueberry Hill Surprise!) but this was my first time at beautiful Blase Family Farm in Rockwall, TX about twenty minutes east of Dallas. Blase impresses from the minute you pull up, from the friendly parking lot to the adorable entrance to the smiling faces ready to greet you. You can choose from a bag, small bucket, or large bucket. I of course got the large bucket because I’m quite the efficient berry picker.

My friend Julie and I grabbed our buckets and headed out to the blueberry field. It’s a short walk in the woods to reach the blueberry bushes, and what a lovely walk it is! It’s nice and shady with a few photo ops and Adirondack chairs if you want to sit and hang out for a while in the woods. I’m already dreaming of the picnic opportunities!

There are 1600 pesticide-free blueberry bushes waiting for you at Blase Family Farm. The season lasts 4-6 weeks around June. Blueberries are $7 a pound. I picked 1.5 pounds in 50 minutes. Even at 9 am, it was very hot in the sun so we picked quickly! I was so happy to be in my new, incredibly lightweight linen dress from Boden. I can’t think of a breezier outfit! You’ll definitely want to wear sunscreen. The area was pristine. I don’t think I saw a single bug while I was there but still put on bug spray just in case!

When you pay for your blueberries, you’ll see homemade blueberry and strawberry popsicles, homeamde fudge in all sorts of flavors, homemade soap, jam, and a few gift items like t-shirts, hats, and stuffed animals. Promise me you will get the fudge! I got the chocolate walnut fudge because I’ve long been on a quest to find the best fudge in DFW and I have finally found it. Blase Family Farm makes hands down the best fudge I’ve ever had. It’s truly my perfect fudge, dark and creamy. It’s an absolute dream.

All in all it was the loveliest morning. I’m so glad my friend Julie suggested it! I already can’t wait to visit again in the fall for the pumpkin patch.
