How adorable are these Valentine’s Day Brownies? Red and pink heart sprinkles really pop on the cream cheese frosting.

These from scratch brownies are rich and fudgey with a deep chocolate flavor, but no judgement if you want to pin this idea for later just to make the frosting for boxed brownies. You do you, girl!

This recipe only makes an 8″ pan but trust me, they’re very rich. These stay fresh all week long, making them the perfect Valentine’s treat for lunchboxes!

Valentine’s Day Brownies
½ cup unsalted butter, cut into cubes
3 oz unsweetened chocolate, chopped
½ cup granulated sugar
½ cup dark brown sugar
2 large eggs
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
¾ cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
Cream Cheese Frosting, recipe follows
Valentine’s Day sprinkles
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line an 8” square pan and spray with nonstick spray.
- Combine chopped chocolate and cubed butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at 50% power until melted, about 2 minutes, stopping to stir every 30 seconds or so.
- Remove from microwave and whisk in granulated sugar and dark brown sugar. Whisk in eggs and vanilla. Fold in dry ingredients just until combined, then spread into prepared pan. Bake for 20-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Do not overbake!
- Cool completely, then frost with cream cheese frosting. Decorate as desired with Valentine’s Day sprinkles.
Cream Cheese Frosting
4 oz cream cheese, softened (full fat!)
3 Tbsp unsalted butter, softened
1 ¾ cups powdered sugar
½ tsp vanilla extract
- Combine cream cheese and butter until smooth. Slowly mix in powdered sugar. Mix in vanilla extract.
