La bohème at The Dallas Opera

Dallas Opera Review

La bohème at The Dallas Opera is not to be missed! Broken into four fast-paced acts, La bohème is the perfect first opera. I’m so glad that I was able to introduce my friend Hope to opera with this production! Puccini’s masterpiece is expertly executed by the talented Dallas Opera team with stunning visual effects, incredible vocal talent, and even an adorable dog on stage!

Thank you The Dallas Opera for hosting me!

The Fashion

One fun thing about the opera is that you can never be too overdressed. I opted for a new orange ruffle trapeze dress from Eloquii for the occasion and I truly felt like a princess. I paired the vibrant gown with beige bow heels, a beige wrap, and a wicker crossbody bag.

Dinner at La Stella Cucina Verace

I love to arrive to the Winspear early and walk across the pedestrian-friendly street to La Stella Cucina Verace for dinner. We kicked things off with the chargrilled octopus and a Stellini: a peach bright and cheerful peach prosecco cocktail.

I wish I could tell you that I branched out but I just had to have the Branzino again. It’s perfectly cooked and light as a feather! We thoroughly enjoyed the outstanding live pianist serenading us with Sinatra while we sipped bourbon and tucked into La Stella’s signature dessert, tiramisu.

La bohème

Sylvia D’Eramo made an impressive Dallas Opera debut as Mimi. The soprano handled every flirt, sorrow, and heartbreak with grace. She was expertly paired with Bekhzod Davronov, who gave a strong performance as her romantic counterpart, Rodolfo.

Emily Pogorelc lit up the stage with her hilarious performance as Musetta and palpable chemistry with Takaoki Onishi’s Marcello. But the real star of the show was the adorable Pomeranian Penny, who enchanted the audience with every wag of her tail.

There is nothing not to love about The Dallas Opera’s production of La bohème. The orchestra, led by Emmanuel Villaume, sounded absolutely incredible. I also have to give a shoutout to set designer Erhard Rom for the best snow I’ve ever seen on stage. It was breathtakingly beautiful. Dallas Opera truly never disappoints!
