A Weekend Trip to Tanglewood Resort

Tanglewood Resort

I had such a fabulous trip to Tanglewood Resort earlier this month and couldn’t wait to tell you all about it. Tanglewood is family-friendly resort on the Texas-Oklahoma border overlook beautiful Lake Texoma.

Please note Tanglewood is one of my PR clients. I spent the weekend at the resort on a personal holiday (a friend’s bachelorette trip) and had such a wonderful time that I wanted to share it with all of you!

Resort Overview

Most famous for its championship golf course designed by Arnold Palmer, Tanglewood was recently renovated with all sorts of eco-friendly touches such as sustainable hybrid grass and the installation of solar panels that double as covered parking and power the resort.

View from my balcony

Tanglewood is five minutes from Highpoint Marina, making it a great home base for boat rentals, fishing trips, and more. Other area attractions include Eisenhower State Park, Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge, Kelly Square, Old Quail Run Farm, wineries, horseback riding, and more.

The Villa

Tanglewood offers spacious villas with full kitchens, living rooms, dining rooms, and balconies. We were treated to a stunning marina view. What a treat it was on Sunday morning to enjoy my coffee on the balcony looking out at sparkling blue water!

Tower Whiskey Bar

After using our kitchen and dining room to make individual charcuterie boards, my group headed over to the Tower Whiskey Bar to catch the sunset and listen to live music. It was karaoke night and the Tower was hoppin’! I highly recommend a Milam & Greene old fashioned. It pairs perfectly with Journey and those quintessential Tanglewood views. It’s truly one of the best sunsets in Texas!

The Food

I’ve had so many good meals at Tanglewood. The resort offers several options: an old-fashioned steakhouse, a casual Bar & Grill, and a poolside bar, plus a lounge and the iconic Tower Whiskey Bar. I loved our dinner at Lakeside Restaurant so much that I wrote a whole separate article about it. Read it here.

Pool Day

Tanglewood Resort has indoor and outdoor pools, a pool slide, lots of comfortable outdoor couches, pergolas, fire pits, corn hole, pickleball courts and more. We spent most of the day on Saturday swimming and lounging poolside after a casual lunch at Tanglewood Bar & Grill.

Tanglewood Resort

The resort is quite affordable with lots of family-friendly special events. The best part? It’s even dog friendly! My Cavalier Henry loves traveling to Tanglewood. It’s the perfect place to call home base on your next Lake Texoma vacation.
