What a thrill to get to hang out with Patrick Duffy and his lovely wife Linda Purl this week! I’ve seen every episode of Dallas (the original and the remake!) and The Office so I couldn’t have been more excited to talk to the talented duo, who are not only fantastic actors but also philanthropists, about Duffy’s Dough.

What is Duffy’s Dough?

Duffy’s Dough is a new line of sourdough bread products found exclusively at Kroger. The bread is made from the Duffy family’s 70 year-old sourdough starter. How cool is that? There’s the original sourdough loaf, a multigrain sourdough loaf, French dinner rolls, and artisan sandwich rolls. The bread is absolutely delicious! This might be my favorite multigrain I’ve ever tried.

“One of the fun things about sourdough is that it’s already special because of that tangy taste,” enthused Linda. Patrick added, “It’s a bread that has a personality.”

The Story

A kind neighbor gifted Patricks’ mom a sourdough starter in 1952 and she kept it alive for decades. She passed the cherished starter down to him, which he told me cheekily he used to impress his now wife, Linda.

“When we first starter dating, I was trying very hard to impress her so I started baking,” Patrick told me proving once again that he really is as great as Bobby Ewing. “Baking cakes and cinnamon rolls, and we would take bread to people’s houses instead of a bottle of wine.”

The Cause

The best part? 100% of the profits benefit hunger relief, which means you can make a difference just by eating bread. What a dream!

Linda told me, “Kroger has a zero waste, zero hunger policy and they’re serious about it.” Patrick added, “3.9 billion meals have been delivered by Kroger to people in need!”
