Christmas Tree Cheese Ball

Christmas Tree Cheese Ball

I sure wasn’t planning on blogging today, Christmas Eve, but I strolled into the kitchen to make my Herbed Cheese Ball for Christmas and then this Christmas Tree Cheese Ball happened and it was just too cute not to share!

I was about to form my delicious herbed cheese ball into, well, a ball when I suddenly got the idea to make a little Christmas tree. Then I remembered that it’s winter so of course I have a pomegranate and voila! The cutest little Christmas appetizer that took five minutes to make.

You can of course thoroughly coat the tree so you don’t see any white peaking through but I think it looks rather sweet and rustic like that.

Christmas Tree Cheese Ball

8 oz block cream cheese, room temperature
1 cup aged white cheddar cheese, grated plus 1 slice
1/4 tsp salt
Fresh rosemary (2 sprigs)
Fresh oregano (2 sprigs)
Fresh chives (7-8 sprigs)

For the coating: 1/3 cup chopped Italian parsley, 2-3 sprigs oregano, 2-3 sprigs chives
For the ornaments: pomegranate arils

  1. Chop rosemary, oregano, and chives. Mix cream cheese, white cheddar, salt, and herbs well and form a corn shape. Gently roll in chopped parsley, oregano, and chives until thoroughly coated. Decorate with pomegranate aril “ornaments.”
  2. Cut a star out of the extra slice of cheese and place on top.
  3. Chill for one hour before serving. Serve with crackers.
