West 7th is one of my favorite areas of Fort Worth so I jumped at the chance to attend West 7th Bites & Flights. I invited my friend Ginger to the sip-and-stroll on Sunday. West 7th was bustling with foodies, musicians, restauranteurs, and winemakers. Messina Hof had fantastic wine offerings and Lost Oak Winery is always welcome on my table, but my favorite of the day was Waters’ Sauvignon Blanc from Napa Valley. I’ve never been to Waters but between that glass and the oyster happy hour I heard about, I’m definitely going to make a reservation!
We started at the north side of West 7th and worked our way down, sampling offerings from Terra Mediterranean Grill, Kona Grill, Thirteen Pies (my favorite pizza place!), Market + Table, Brewsters, Refrain, Mash’d, and more. I don’t do a lot of sip and strolls but this was a fun opportunity to try new restaurants.
A few favorites from Sunday:
Macadamia Nut Chicken at Kona Grill: This chicken was sweet and crispy and tasted a little naughty.
Good Pepperoni Pizza at Thirteen Pies: Truffle oil. Need I say more? I’ve never had a bad slice at Thirteen Pies but I’m not a pepperoni fan so I would have never ordered the good pepperoni pizza. The crust is thin and crispy and the truffle oil complements the pepperoni nicely.
Top Sirloin Skewers at Rafain: Rafain knows meat. At least that’s what I thought while munching on this very dainty, ladylike skewer full of meat, which paired nicely with the caprese skewer. (Note to self: this is a great summertime entertaining menu!) Of the three meats, the juicy, marinated chicken was my favorite.
Serious Queso at Mash’d: This is a bold statement, but I’m going to say it anyway: this is the best queso I’ve ever had. I’ve never been to Mash’d but now I’m dying to go for dinner. The chips looked spicy but were bright with flavorful herbs. The queso itself was impossibly thick and cheesy. Honestly it was more like gourmet fondue than queso!
West 7th Bites & Flights was a great way to spend a Sunday. They’ll another one in the fall so if you’re in the Fort Worth area, be sure and check it out!
Happy dining,
Thank you to my blogger friend Ginger of The Ginger Marie Blog for snapping this pic of me in front of Dude Sweet Chocolate and for accompanying me on the sip and stroll!
