Diner en Blanc Dallas 2016 was held at Dallas City Hall with 2,300 excited attendees decked in head-to-toe white ensembles. It was a sight for sore eyes! The location had sweeping views of the Dallas skyscrapers as well as Omni Dallas, which was lit up with DEB in honor of the event. The huge fountain and trees made the otherwise suburban setting a lovely place for a swanky pop-up picnic such as Le Diner en Blanc.

The people watching at Diner en Blanc is just as magnificent as the event itself. People spend months planning their outfits and tables and it shows. One group of friends even dressed up as Alice in Wonderland characters (while still abiding by the color scheme rules) AND coordinated their tables with the Wonderland theme. Incredible! They had me in the mood to throw the Wonderland party I keep saying I’m going to throw, but that’s another story.

When François Pasquier decided to host a pop-up picnic with friends in Paris in the 1980s, I wonder if he could have imagined the international phenomenon that it would become. Today nearly 15,000 people participate each year in Paris and well over 100,000 people attend Diner en Blanc events in over 70 cities around the globe. The essence of Le Diner en Blanc is simple: take a few hours to slow down, dine well, and appreciate those around you. François and I are kindred spirits, because that’s exactly what The Rose Table is about.

As Diner en Blanc Dallas’ publicist, I had a front row seat in the media lounge and was able to watch as the white busses rolled in and our 2,300 attendees rolled their tables, chairs, silverware, dinnerware, food, and table decor on site. Attendees spend the first half hour setting up their tables until the iconic napkin wave that takes place around the globe to kick off dinner. I loved how many people decorated their tables with chic white pumpkins, since Diner en Blanc Dallas was held on the last day of September.

After dinner, the dance floor opened and guests danced the night away to a rather phenomenal playlist. Light twinkled across the fountain while guests bounced between the dance floor, crepe station, photo ops, and tables.

Pyrotex ended the night with a brilliant fireworks display. Watch the Diner en Blanc Dallas fireworks show here. After the last burst of color, everyone packed up their belongings and left Dallas City Hall exactly as they found it. And some, I hear, went home and promptly ordered their outfit for Diner en Blanc Dallas 2017!
