I have long loved skewers. If it’s on a stick, I’m probably a fan. If you love sweet and savory together, you’ll love this easy dish that can be used either as an appetizer or main course.
I served these skewers at Disney Dinners: Moana as the appetizer. Pork is popular in Hawaii (sorry, Pua!) and pineapple makes these skewers tropical and juicy. I don’t even like red onion and I love these delicious skewers.

You can use wooden or metal skewers. I always used to use wooden skewers but even soaking them for ten hours, they always caught on fire. I recently switched to metal skewers. They’re heavier so you can pack more on each skewer (three pork chunks, two pineapple chunks) but they also cook a little faster so start checking them after ten minutes.

Pineapple Pork Skewers
Makes 8-12 skewers
1 lbs boneless pork chops
1/2 pineapple, cut into chunks
1/2 red onion, cut into small slices
1 red bell pepper, cut into small slices
Your favorite BBQ sauce
Fresh oregano
- Marinate pork overnight in about a half cup of your favorite BBQ sauce. I used Stonewall Kitchen’s Honey BBQ sauce.
- Thread pork onto skewers with chunks of red onions, red bell pepper, and pineapple. Brush with a tablespoon or two more of BBQ sauce.
- Grill 10-15 minutes, turning once, until cooked through. Remove from heat and sprinkle with oregano. Serve with rice for dinner or on their own as an appetizer.
