I had the pleasure of drinking LVE Cabernet Sauvignon on a wine picnic with my dog Henry this weekend and wow. This is a hell of a wine. With 85% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and 15% Petit Verdot, the LVE Cabernet Sauvignon is a rich wine that wows. Sexy and alluring, this would be the perfect night for Valentine’s Day or any romantic evening. (Adorable Cavalier King Charles Spaniel not included.)
The LVE Cabernet Sauvignon is described as having aromas of dark fruit, dark chocolate, and caramelized figs, and flavors of cassis, raspberry, and oak. I’d say that’s pretty spot-on but I also picked up coffee and blackberry notes. It’s a gorgeously harmonious wine, fitting for a wine made by John Legend!
The grapes hail from six different vineyards in the California wine region. The wine was aged in a mix of Demptos, Baron, Leroi, and Seguin Moreau French oak barrels. It’s extremely drinkable with a luxurious finish that stays with you. It’s definitely a “fire pit worthy” wine, which is a compliment I give with the highest regards to distinguish the wines I like to savor with great company by my fire pit.
I enjoyed this wine with my Gold Chocolate Tart, a bold pairing for sure. A strong cabernet is one of the few wines I like with dark chocolate. This wine would be fantastic with a steak but it’s also lovely on its own.
This was my first time trying John Legend’s wine label LVE Wines and I could not have been more impressed. It’s part of the Boisset Collection and my wine-loving readers know what a huge fan I am of the Boisset Collection. I have three more LVE bottles in the queue to tell you about so stay tuned!
