Mint Greek Frappé

What a delightful afternoon pick me up! I’ve shaken up my Greek Frappé with mint simple syrup that I had leftover in the fridge from making Mint Juleps. I love the subtle addition of mint here.

This tastes like a Starbucks drink for a fraction of the price! It’s so easy to make too. You measure everything right in the glass and use a handheld frother (I use the same one that I use for salad dressing) so there’s virtually no clean up.  I hope you love this as much as I do!

Mint Greek Frappé Recipe

Mint Greek Frappé
Serves 1
Some water
1 heaping spoonful instant coffee
1 spoonful granulated sugar
1 spoonful mint simple syrup (recipe follows)

More water
Ice
Milk
Mint sprig

  1. Fill a tall glass with a bit of water. We’re talking a tablespoon or two. Add a heaping spoonful of Greek instant coffee and a spoonful of sugar. Use a frother to froth up the drink. It should reach half the glass in a minute or less. (Moving the frother up and down expedites the process.) Add mint simple syrup to the glass and use frother to mix it in.
  2. Fill the glass with ice. Top off with a bit more water to reach nearly the top of the glass. If desired (I always desire!), top with a bit of milk, and garnish with a mint sprig. The drink separates to a coffee with foam after a few minutes. This is fine! Just continue to stir it as you drink.

Mint Simple Syrup
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1/4 cup fresh mint leaves

  1. Bring sugar, water, and mint leaves to a boil in a small sauce pan until sugar is completely dissolved. Cool and strain to remove the mint leaves. This keeps for a couple of weeks in a jar in the fridge.
