For my Harvest Festival lunch, I made two kind of delicious fall sandwiches: apple butter and havarti and pumpkin butter and cheddar. They were so good! For added cuteness, I cut them out into pumpkin shapes using a cookie cutter and served on a platter with grapes, nuts, and some rosemary from my garden.
There’s just something about cut-out food. I suppose you’re supposed to outgrow the love of food cut out with cookie cutters but I haven’t. It’s just so damn cute! Maybe it’s because I’m a Disney lover and everyone know that everything tastes better shaped like Mickey Mouse. Either way, your kids, friends, neighbors, whoever are sure to get a kick out of these simple sammies.
This would be a darling Halloween lunch! Turkey would also be delicious with the apple butter and havarti if you want to add a protein. I highly recommend using high-quality pre-sliced cheese for this so you get a really pretty cut-out shape. You could certainly use homemade apple butter and pumpkin butter if you’re fancier than me but we LOVED both of these products.
