I am such a popcorn snob. I eat popcorn for dinner easily two Fridays a month when I don’t feel like cooking. This cheddar popcorn is quick and easy to make. This popcorn has real melted butter, the highest quality cheese powder, truffle salt, mustard powder, and a little smokiness from paprika. I really could eat it every damn day!
My dad taste tested this recipe for me and he’s a tough critic. You know it’s great because he loved it! I used King Arthur Flour’s Vermont Cheddar Cheese Powder, which many reviewers say is the best. I got mine on Amazon Prime so it arrived in just one day! Gotta love Prime shipping.
This is perfect for movie night but also fun to make for a party. I served this with sandwiches and rice krispy treats for my Harvest Festival and called it a party. Fun fact: I’ve served popcorn in some variation at almost every big party I’ve ever thrown because it takes seconds to prepare and people always gobble it up. Want a sweet popcorn recipe? Try my dark chocolate sea salt popcorn!

Vermont Cheddar Popcorn
1 standard size bag plain popcorn (8 cups)
4 Tbsp melted butter (unsalted)
1/4 cup + 1 Tbsp Vermont Cheddar Cheese Powder (I get mine at King Arthur Flour)
1/2 tsp truffle salt
1/4 tsp mustard powder
1/4 tsp paprika
- Whisk together dry seasonings in a small bowl.
- Pop popcorn and pour into a large bowl. Drizzle melted butter over popcorn and gently stir to coat with a spatula until popcorn is thoroughly coated with butter and seasonings. Serve immediately. Store leftovers (ha!) in a plastic ziplock bag at room temperature.
