I met some friends at The Harbor Rockwall today for a lemon lakeside picnic. Did you Texas has a major lake scene? In the summertime, The Harbor is bustling with boats and outdoor concerts but in the winter, I still love sitting by the sparkling blue water with a view of the lighthouse. I couldn’t have asked for a prettier day to picnic by the lake!
I was inspired by citrus season for lunch! I packed up a beautiful chilled pasta salad with Meyer lemon dressing, feta cheese, and pine nuts. I wanted something super simple to showcase the gorgeous rainbow pasta I found at a market a few weeks ago. I decided a bright lemony pasta salad suited the cheerful rainbow bowties. I also packed up a spinach salad with cucumber, blueberries, and balsamic vinaigrette.

I also brought Kuhlman Cellars herbed almonds, which are absolutely addictive. If you haven’t tried these incredible morsels with Herbs de Provence from France, WHAT are you waiting for?! Order a bag here.

As for the wine, I just had to open a bottle of Kuhlman Cellars 2020 Kuhlmanation Estate Rosé. When it’s 66 degrees in the dead of winter, how can you not sip on a perfec rosé? This Provencal-style rosé is a blend of carignan and mourverde and is so easy to drink and pair.
For dessert, I baked Meyer Lemon Cupcakes with the best Meyer lemon cream cheese frosting. These cupcakes are just dreamy! So moist and lemony – the perfect way to celebrate citrus season! Get the recipe here.
I wore my brand new Hill House nap dress for the occasion. I’ve had my eye on this dress since I think summer 2020 and I finally scored my very own (on sale of course!) paired with my cozy new cashmere wrap from Garnet Hill, a birthday present from my mom. I thought it was the perfect little picnic outfit for a beautiful winter day!
Love it? Pin it!
Happy picnicking,
