Need an easy, delicious side dish for Memorial Day or Independence Day? Want to celebrate summer berries? You’ve come to the right place!
Adding fruit to salad is something I’ve been passionate about since I was in my college apartment. (If you’ve never had my Strawberry Salmon Salad, I highly recommend it!) This combination is just perfect: spinach, fresh strawberries, fresh blueberries, feta cheese, and slivered almonds. Yum! Layer everything in a salad bowl or on a platter and you’ve got yourself a colorful, beautiful side dish for burgers or BBQ. Yum!
I most often eat this with balsamic vinaigrette but raspberry vinaigrette is honestly my favorite. For a party, I think it’s friendly to have a few dressing options set out for guests to choose from. Plus, the salad will stay fresher longer if it isn’t dressed ahead of time – a little entertaining hack for you!
I really hate adding amounts to salad recipes since you could make this as a single serving or twice as large as the salad I made here, but because I know you’ll ask: I used a small bag of spinach (3 cups), 1 cup of quartered strawberries, about 1/3 cup of blueberries, about 2 oz feta cheese, and a tablespoon or so of slivered almonds but for Pete’s sake, don’t measure! It’s salad!

Spinach
Strawberries, sliced and quartered
Blueberries
Feta cheese
Slivered almonds
Suggested dressing: balsamic vinaigrette, lemon poppyseed, or raspberry vinaigrette
- Layer spinach, strawberries and blueberries on a platter. Sprinkle feta cheese and slivered almonds on top. Serve with balsamic vinaigrette, lemon poppyseed dressing, or raspberry vinaigrette.
