Best Things to Do in Dallas in the Fall

Love fall? Girl, same! Fall has been my favorite season long before it was trendy because it’s usually the best weather of the whole year here in Dallas. I consider it prime picnic season for that reason and some of my favorite events of the whole year are held in the fall! Here are the Best Things to Do in Dallas in the Fall.

Pumpkin Village at Dallas Arboretum
Dallas Arboretum Pumpkin Village Art of the Pumpkin 2020

One of my favorite events at Dallas Arboretum is the Pumpkin Village at Autumn at the Arboretum. The annual fall festival has over 100,000 pumpkins and gourds and is consistently named one of the best things to do in the south for a reason. It’s amazing! What’s better than strolling through a gorgeous garden? Strolling through a gorgeous garden with incredible pumpkin houses and photo ops of course! This year’s theme is A Fall Fairy Tale. Sign me the heck up! The event will showcase the iconic Cinderella Carriage (photographed above in 2020) as well as gourd-eous displays inspired by Jack and the Beanstalk, The Three Little Pigs, The Sword in the Stone, and more. The festival runs September 17-October 31, 2022. Read about past Pumpkin Village events here, here, and here.

Dallas Symphony Orchestra Gala

Dallas Symphony Orchestra DSO Gala Review | The Rose Table

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra Gala is one of my favorite events of the year. It is, in my opinion, the fashion event of the season. I always look forward to people watching at gala! The concert begins at 8:45 pm on Saturday, October 1st and tickets include the after party, which is always a blast. Dance the night away then refuel with desserts and coffee! This year’s performance is an operetta by mezzo-soprano Susan Graham. I adore opera so I’m particularly excited about this! Learn more and get tickets here.

State Fair of Texas

Fried Cookie Dough State Fair of Texas

We are so lucky to have the Stage Fair of Texas right in our backyard! This year the fair runs September 30 – October 23, 2022 and has some of the best bites yet. You can catch me eating all the treats, riding the ferris wheel, and petting all the horses. Plan your visit here or read about my last trip to the fair here.

Sail with Scott

Sail with Scott Review | Things to do in Rockwall Texas

I finally experienced one of Rockwall’s best experiences for myself this summer (read about my summer sail here) and let me tell you, it lives up to the hype! Fall is the perfect time to go sailing on Lake Ray Hubbard, when the temperature finally drops. Enjoy the crisp fall air out on the water! You can even pack up some wine and cheese to enjoy during your sunset sail.

Greek Food Festival of Dallas

Feta bites

This has been one of my favorite foodie events since I was a teenager. This year’s Greek Food Festival is a bit later in the fall than normal (November 5-6) but mark your calendar now because it’s not to be missed! The food is amazing and you can get all sorts of imported Greek goodies like olive oil, towels, cookbooks, and even paintings. Get tickets here.

Blase Family Farm

One thing I haven’t done before but I’m super excited about is visiting Blase Family Farm in the fall! I went blueberry picking with my friend Julie this summer and after reading her blog post about fall at the farm, I couldn’t be more excited for a hayride and homemade pumpkin fudge!
