The Hocus Pocus, aka the perfect Halloween cocktail! All you need is stunning purple Empress Gin, lemonade, and dry ice for this magical cocktail that’s sure to put a spell on you.
I came up with this beautiful drink for my Hocus Pocus party and it got rave reviews from my guests! It was inspired by the Life Potion the witches brew in the movie, which is purple until it’s complete.

You’re all set! I hope you love brewing this magical potion as much as I did. I wrote this up for a single drink (easy to make in bulk – I made about three rounds of cocktails for six people with a little more than one bottle of Empress and a bottle and a half of lemonade) but with this easy ratio, you could just as easily make it as a pitcher or whole punch bowl.
The Hocus Pocus
2 oz Empress Gin
4 oz lemonade
Dry ice
- Add Empress gin to a highball glass. Add lemonade and ooh and ahh as the color changes.
- Set bag of dry ice on a large towel. Tear bag open slightly. Wrap towel around dry ice and bash with a hammer. Unwrap and use tongs to place a chunk of dry ice in each cocktail. The drink will immediately start smoking. The smoke will last for approximately five-ten minutes.
