Looking for an easy no-bake treat for your Harry Potter party? Make these chocolate Magic Wands!
This recipe is easy enough for little wizards to help you with. Four ounces of chocolate yields about 12-15 wands but this recipe easily doubles. Just melt the chocolate and shortening, whisking until smooth and glossy, then set up for decorating. I like to spoon the chocolate over the wands rather than dipping them. Rotate to thoroughly coat each pretzel, rotating each one to let the excess chocolate drip off.
Pro tip: have a plate ready for the sprinkles. Decorate the pretzel over the plate, then transfer to a wax-lined cookie sheet. That way you won’t accidentally get sprinkles on your other finished wands!
Pop in the fridge for ten minutes and they’re ready to enjoy. They’ll also stay delicious all week and would make a darling lunchbox treat!
The question is: which of the chocolate magic wands will you choose? Or should I say, which wand will choose you?
Magic Wands
Large pretzel rods
4 oz semi-sweet Ghirardelli baking chocolate
2 tsp shortening
- Finely chop baking chocolate and place in a heatproof bowl with 2 tsp shortening. Microwave at half power for about 2 minutes, stirring every 15-30 seconds until smooth and glossy.
- Hold a pretzel over the bowl and spoon chocolate over the pretzel, rotating it to thoroughly coat.
- Set chocolate-dipped pretzels on a baking sheet lined with wax paper. Decorate with sprinkles of choice, then pop the sheet in the fridge for ten minutes to set.
