Dinner at Dama in Los Angeles

Dama Fashion District LA Review

My best friend Sarah really knows how to perk me up. I was a new person after ordering over a dozen small plates and two craft cocktails at the Los Angeles Fashion District Mediterranean bar Dama. This delicious gem of a restaurant is not be missed on your next LA trip! Here are some must-try dishes.

Whipped Beans

Let me start off by saying I would never normally order something called whipped beans but I was immediately excited at how many people shouted “whipped beans!” when the waiter asked if we knew what we wanted. I will forever be sitting in Dallas pining away for this creamy dish! It kind of tastes like a cream cheese dip topped with incredibly crispy pork. Hands down my favorite thing at Dama!

Crispy Squash Blossoms

We all immediately agreed on the crispy squash blossoms stuffed with goat cheese, serrano, cilantro, chives, and thyme. These delicate morsels did not disappoint! They were light as air! Definitley another must-order dish.

Piquillo Toast

Topped with goat cheese and anchovies on charred bread, this dish was simple and elegant. If you love anchovies like me, you’ll love this delicious bruschetta!

Corn

This is another item I would have never ordered but I’m so glad my group did! The corn was presented beautifully, served like little lollipops with a knife to cut the kernals off the cob. So friendly! With queso fresco, catija, and cilantro aioli, this dish is poppin’ with flavor.

Crispy Potatoes

Perfectly crispy smashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts are served with spicy mayo, herbs, and chimichurri sauce. I was not expecting this dish to be spicy but it had a little kick! It’s not every day you see potatoes and Brussels sprouts together and I loved the combo.

Bread

Simply titled “bread,” this bruschetta was a nice way to soak up the creamier dishes on our plate. Served with a tomato medley, and confit garlic, this simple dish can be jazzed up with anchovies if you’d like.

Charred Octopus

I love that the octopus is served with potatoes and olive tapenade! While I thought the octopus itself could have been a little more tender, the dish as a whole was delicious.

Rotisserie Chicken

One of only four large plates currently on the menu, the rotisserie chicken is not to be missed! The chicken was incredibly moist and served with three sauces, charred lemon, and a mountain of crispy shoestring fries.

Dama Flight

For dessert we got the flight because….why not? The flight came with Pacific Banana Co. Sundae, Rice Pudding, S’mores Sundae, and hot churros with caramel sauce. My favorite was the Pacific Banana Co. Sundae with Straus soft-serve ice cream, butered bananas, caramel, and peanuts.
