What is Enchanted Forest of Light at Descanso?

Enchanted Forest of Light is an incredible interactive light exhibit at Descanso Gardens. The event takes place at night and is about a mile-long stroll through the garden. The light exhibit runs every year Thanksgiving-early January. It almost feels like stepping into an animated movie! Art installations range from a field of color-changing tulips, twinkling forests, musical trees, gorgeous geometric art pieces, and more. It’s easy to get lost in the magic of Enchanted.

How do you get tickets to Enchanted Forest of Light?

Tickets are sold in advance, not at the door. You need to book your tickets ASAP. This popular holiday event sells out quickly and for good reason: it’s spectacular! Sarah sent me the ticket link for Enchanted as soon as I bought my flight five weeks in advance and most of the time slots were already sold out. Luckily, we were able to grab one of the last times on Friday night.

Is there food at Descanso?

There are a couple of food and drink stalls. We had just come from an incredible dinner at Dama in the fashion district but we did warm up with cups of apple cider halfway through the exhibit. Don’t skip it – the cider was fantastic! 

What happens if it rains?

Enchanted is a rain-or-shine event and tickets are non-refundable. It was a rainy day when we went and that did not at all deter the locals from enjoying the lights. In fact Enchanted quite possibly looked better in the rain! I can see why this is such a popular Christmas activity for the locals. Kristen Bell and Dax Shepherd were there just days after I went!

How long does it take to see Enchanted at Descanso?

We spent about two hours enjoying the displays and taking tons of pictures and I think that’s the perfect about of time. Learn more about this annual holiday tradition here.
