Wicked Party

Wicked Party

I transformed my house into my very own Ozdust Ballroom for One Short Day in the Emerald City. I moved the furniture in my living room to create a vibrant green dance floor so that we could spend the evening Dancing Through Life.

My friends looked absolutely incredible in their formalwear and of course, I made a bunch of delicious savory and sweet treats inspired by Wicked.

Thank you to my grocery partner Kroger for supporting The Rose Table and this party! It’s partnerships like this that keep The Rose Table going.

Watch the episode:

The Table

I set the table with a gorgeous green tablecloth. It took me several tries to get the right one. I’ll use this one again and again! Unlike my dinner parties, the table was a buffet largely taken up by food and therefore had minimal decor, through it did have floral arrangements and a Defying Gravity sign custom made for my party by Enchanted Farmhouse.

Wicked Party

The Flowers & Vases

I styled white hydrangeas and pink roses from Kroger with pops of lime green carnations and spider chrysanthemums in the most stunning custom made Elphaba and Glinda vases by Marbleized Ceramics.

Michael is a local artisan here in Dallas and he came up with a show-stopping collar design for these theatrical vases! DM him if you want to order one.

The Drink Table

While the dining room was dedicated to Elphaba, the drink table was dedicated to Galinda with a Ga. I styled the drink table with a ruffled pink tablecloth, a custom Popular sign by Enchanted Farmhouse, flowers in a pink Glinda vase by Marbleized Ceramics, and fun little Glinda wands.

The Balloon Arches

The drink table was framed by a fabulous pink balloon arch and the dining room wowed guests with a huge green and gold Emerald City arch. I bought the balloon arch kits on Amazon (links: pink and green) and was stunned when they still looked perfect a week later! Learn how to make balloon arches here.

Wicked Party Glinda Balloon Arch

Shoutout to my friend Rachel for making these balloon arches. Read more about how she did it here. And yes, she even made custom paper flowers to jazz up the arches!

Lighting & Dance Floor

One thing that really made the Wicked Ball special was the lighting. Most of the house was a vibrant shade of green a la the Emerald City but I didn’t want the food to be discolored so the dining room had a twinkling light curtain and branch lighting.

Wicked Party
My singer friend Sydney treated us to a performance of Defying Gravity!

I used these indoor floodlights to wash my living room walls in green and the same amazing light that I used to create the underwater effect at my Little Mermaid dinner party to create a green dance floor worthy of Fiyero’s dance moves. It looks kind of distorted in the photos so watch the episode for the full effect!

Wicked Party

Other Decor

I styled the side table in the dining room with pink flowers and one of my many Wicked playbills. “It’s all Grand and it’s all Green” adorned my chalkboard and I hung beautiful Defying Gravity sheet music art for the dining room.

I also hung floating witch hats with fishing wire near the dance floor as a nod to Defying Gravity and added a bunch of pink florals and twinkly light all around for Glinda, plus had some fun green bows and Wicked lanterns.

The Music

I’m quite proud of my Wicked Party playlist, which included lots of fantastic upbeat music to keep us Dancing Through Life.

The Drinks

I couldn’t even be more delighted with my Wicked cocktails. I served two: Green Elixir (midori x champagne, an easy drink any Wicked lover can enjoy) and Glinda Punch served with bubbles. You heard me!

The Bubbles

Words cannot describe how delighted I am with this. None of my friends thought I could pull it off but here we are! For Christmas last year, my sister-in-law got me a smoking culinary gun and bubble mixture from Homia.

I used the combo to serve sparkling pinch Glinda Punch with edible bubbles on top. I think Glinda the Good Witch would approve! Get the recipe for my Green Elixir here and Glinda Punch + Bubble Tutorial here.

The Food

This menu is not only whimsical, theatrical, and extremely on theme, but also really easy to pull off. Most everything is make-ahead. In fact at party time I only had two dishes to make!

Flirt and Flounce Crab Tartlets

Could this be a cuter name? This EASY seafood starter is a must-make for crab lovers. I think our favorite fancy gal Glinda would approve. Get the recipe here.

Nessarose Spinach Salad

I always like to have a couple of healthy items fro my guests. I don’t know about you but I can’t eat solid cheese in an evening! This beautiful pink and green salad pays homage to Elphie’s sister. Get the recipe here.

Popular Pinwheels

This salmon pinwheels are sure to be POPULAR! Another great pink and green make-ahead appetizer, these pinwheels sing with a pop of lemon zest. Get the recipe here.

De-Greenified Salad

I’m so proud of this clever chilled salad! I used two ingredietns we typically think of as green, asparagus and squash, but used the “de-greenified” versions (white asparagus and yellow squash instead of zucchini) and tossed them with feta, pearled couscous, and a delicious champagne vinaigrette. Get the recipe here.

I’m Not That Girl Herbed Cheese Ball

I made my delicious herbed cheese ball served with crackers for another easy green dish! Get the recipe for this addictive cheese ball here.

Elphaba Dip & Veggies

I served my mama’s famous green goddess dip as Elphaba Dip alongside pink beet hummus for Glinda on a gorgeous veggie tray with celery, sugar snap peas, carrots, pita chips, edible flowers, and more. Get the recipe fro this fabulous green (and healthy!) dip here.

Wicked Cupcakes

Who doesn’t love a swirled frosting? I swirled pink and green frosting together for these Wicked Cupcakes. Get the recipe here.

White Chocolate BLONDies

This was a last minute addition! I was lamenting that I had nothing from the song What is this feeling? when I listened to it again and realized that it’s right there: BLONDies. Get this easy one-bowl recipe here.

Wonderful Wizard Mint Brownies

I cut my favorite mint brownies into tiny bite-size pieces for my Wicked Ball. Fun fact: I froze these months before the party and just thawed them the night before! Get the recipe here.

Fiyero Fudge

I made my famous bourbon pecan fudge for a sexy little dark chocolate bite inspired by Fiyero. Get the recipe here.

Goodness Knows Lemon Bars

I also made my favorite white chocolate lemon bars, cut into party bites for my dessert tray. Get the recipe here.

Dancing Through Life Avalanche Bark

This was the hit of the party. Everyone came up to me raving about this little treat! Think of it like an elevated rice krispy treat. Get the recipe here.

Glinda Mini Cheesecakes

Mini Cheesecakes

We love a make-ahead recipe! I baked my mini cheesecakes days before the party, then topped them with vanilla whipped cream and a bit of edible gold shine to sparkle just like Glinda. Get the recipe here.

Wicked Popcorn

Wicked Popcorn

I believe in having lots of nibbles throughout the house when I’m entertaining so I also picked up some custom pink and green popcorn from Popcorn Papa’s in Rockwall for the party. I chose white chocolate, cotton candy, and green apple. The flavors went together shockingly well!

Photo Booth Fun

The gorgeous Rose Table Wicked Ball artwork in the dining room was custom made by LG Creative Studios. I ordered the same print from her in a step-and-repeat for the photo booth. (Get the stand here.)

My friend Rachel set up an iPad and ring light with a photo booth app, which allowed guests to take four consecutive photos and even created a gif for everyone. My friends had way too much fun playing in the photo booth!

I hope this inspired you to host your very own Wicked party! Comment and tell me which character is your favorite and what you think about this menu.
