Do yourself a favor and go to Astra Lumina Dallas! The incredible outdoor art walk is billed as a “celestial journey among the stars.” The exhibit is south of Dallas at an adventure park, as well as a few other cities such as Seattle, Gatlinburg, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles.

We walked about a mile and a half on a flat trail through the woods to see the entire exhibit, which took us about one hour at a relaxed pace. It was a perfect chilly evening to stroll around looking at the most hauntingly beautiful art installations.

Starlight Lanterns
We were pretty much amazed as soon as we walked up. This was one of my favorite displays. I did not want to leave this area! I would give anything to throw a star party smack dab in the middle of this exhibit.

The vibes here were perfect. The whole exhibit has soothing zen music that really enhances each display. Occasionally lights will burst out of an exhibit, as shown below, for the most beautiful effect.

Astra Archway
We all literally gasped when we saw the Astra Archway. My friend Hope said she felt like this area was “like stepping right into a video game” and I couldn’t agree more!

Pictures don’t even do it justice. It moves and has sound effects and fog so it really feels immersive.

Falling Stars & Cosmic Choir
This exhibit is a nice little respite. There are benches and you’re encouraged to sit and enjoy the full four minute light show. It’s then a short walk to the Cosmic Choir, during which you experience a “celestial symphony” of falling star. Here a collection of orbs overhead change colors to soothing music. It’s not clear looking at photos but all of the art displays at Astra Lumina are mini shows.

Stellar Visions
This giant screen played a galactic show that made me fee like Han Solo going into hyper drive on the Millenium Falcon. I love that each show tells a star story.

Celestial Trail
This is one of my favorite areas! This felt like falling right into an ASMR reiki video on youtube. It reminded me quite a bit of the incredible lighted tulip fields at Sensorio in Paso Robles. It’s very Wonderland-esque.

Stardust Rays
This is one of the most magical and definitely the craziest art display. It was one of our favorites but I also felt a bit dizzy after exiting, so please take caution. The dancing stardust rays make you feel like you’re walking on a tight rope. This was definitely one of the most popular areas, with tons of people taking pictures around every corner.

Astral Genesis & Rise of the Stars
Here a giant orb twinkled and changed colors in a short show set to music. It was a nice, soothing, simple display after the craziness of the Stardust Rays.

Last but certainly not least, the Rise of the Stars made me once again feel like I was in Star Wars. Do these not totally look like light sabers to you?

Final Thoughts
Astra Lumina Dallas is one of the coolest things I’ve done in a long time and I highly recommend visiting. Priced at about $40 after ticketing fees and parking, this experience is not to be missed. If you love a meandering walk looking at beautiful stuff as much as I do, you will love a trip to Astra Lumina.

It should be noted that those who have issues with strobing effects and flashing lights should take caution. You do have to sign a waiver before entering the park.
