When I heard that The French Room was offering a special Cherry Blossom tea for spring, I knew I had to check it out and it did not disappoint! My friend Sofia and had a lovely afternoon basking in the beauty of the Adolphus. Here’s everything you need to know about the Cherry Blossom Tea at The French Room!

Afternoon tea at The French Room is truly a tale as old as time here in Dallas. The French Room has been serving afternoon tea for over a century in its stunning corner of the iconic Adolphus hotel in downtown Dallas. The ornate details such as the gilded Louis XVI style chairs, French sconces, marble floor, and twin Italian Murano Glass chandeliers transport guests to a luxurious European chateau.

Champagne and Tea
Tea service begins with a complimentary glass of champagne from the Loire valley. This delighted me, since many tea services charge extra for champagne. Plus the champagne was fantastic! The first tea poured was Kukicha, a green tea from Japan that was light and lovely.

Tea Sandwiches
We started out really strong with a Truffle Egg Salad on croissant and a Salmon Ginger Muffin with yuzu kosho cream, fried shallots, and smoked trout roe. Both had incredible umami flavors further enhanced by the green tea.

The Roasted Pork Loin with sesame mayonnaise and red cabbage on Japanese milk bread looks simple but packs a huge flavor punch. I could eat this every day for lunch! The tea course ended with a standard Cucumber Sandwich and Teriyaki Smoked Chicken Salad with aged cheddar on challah that was moist and delicious. We both loved the smokiness!

Scones
We each got two scones, The French Room’s original scone and a golden raise scone, served with whipped butter and seasonal preserves.

Desserts
The desserts included a gorgeous Sakura Cherry Blossom Cheesecake Tart, a White Chocolate Matcha Cookie, and a Chocolate Miso Éclair paired with Genmaicha “Popcorn Tea” from Japan. You really could taste a hint of popcorn in it!

I don’t even know if I could choose a favor dessert. They were all delicious! The menu is lovingly crafted to celebrate Japanese flavors. If you love rich umami flavors, you will love this unique tea service.

The Cherry Blossom Tea is available now through April 13. Afternoon tea at The French Room costs $75 and includes a glass of champagne. Caviar is available for an additional cost. Valet parking is available at The Adolphus for $12 with validation at The French Room. For more information or to make a reservation, click here.
