Spring Weekend at the Lake House

Scones Lake House

Last year I vowed to start blogging about lake life more since I love lifestyle content but sadly fell short. So here we go! I had a lovely couple of days at my parents’ lake house with my mom this past week and thought you might enjoy a spring weekend at the lake house. Is this how you picture Texas?

The lake house is in east Texas on a sparkling blue lake with a large hill, boat dock, beach, wrap-around deck, and lots of outdoor spaces to enjoy the view. The azaleas were blooming when we arrived, welcoming us with their bright pink flowers. The roses and hydrangeas have just started to wake up from their winter slumber.

Sunday was a relaxing day. My mom, aka Mama Rose Table, made a delicious cheese plate for an afternoon snack as we caught up on some of our favorite Youtube channels. (If you haven’t subscribed to my new weekly Sunday vlog series yet, why not?!) We are especially loving Matt Harnacke and Jesse Drent’s chateau renovation.

I volunteered to make dinner: an easy one-sheet salmon and potato dinner with spinach salad on the side. We also enjoyed some of the Italian chocolates my friend Rebecca gifted me when she visited from Europe.

The next day, we ate strawberry scones for breakfast. My mom baked these – what a treat to have someone else bake for me! Usually I’m the one baking for everyone else. I mainly worked all day, but we did take a break in the afternoon to buy some plants at Rooted: Lester’s Plant Market.

I bought an absurd amount of petunias, angel wings, more herbs, plus an irresistible Bolero tree rose and an epic flowering almond shrub.

After finishing work for the day, I enjoyed a French rosé with that spectacular lake view. Mom made a quick and easy burrata pasta for dinner. Truly, what is better than burrata?!

We rushed back the next day to beat the storms. Luckily I got most of my new plants in the ground before the rain hit. I don’t know about you but I can’t wait for more fun in the sun this spring!

Lake me away,
