Bourbon Milkshakes

Bourbon Milkshakes

Where has this been all my life? The Kentucky Derby had me in the mood for Bourbon Milkshakes and I’m never going back. This is one of the best milkshakes I’ve ever had!

Thank you to my grocery partner Kroger DFW for supporting The Rose Table and this recipe! It’s partnerships like this that keep The Rose Table going. Fun fact: Kroger makes the rose garland for the Kentucky Derby!

Bourbon has a natural caramel flavor that goes ridiculously well with many desserts and it’s perfect in a milkshake. You can use whatever bourbon you love to drink! I used Woodford Reserve, which is the official bourbon of the Kentucky Derby.

Personally I like my milkshake to be drinkable and not require a spoon. If you want a thicker milkshake, add up to a scoop more ice cream. And in case anyone needs it, the ratio for a single bourbon milkshake is 3 large scoops of ice cream, 3 oz milk, 1 bourbon.

Topped with vanilla whipped cream, pecans, and a mint sprig, this festive milkshake is perfect for the run for the roses!

Bourbon Milkshakes

Serves 2
Caramel sauce
6 scoops old fashioned vanilla ice cream
3/4 cup milk
2 ounces bourbon
Whipped cream
Optional: pecans, fresh mint sprig

  1. Drizzle caramel along the inside of two tall glasses.
  2. Combine ice cream, milk, and bourbon in blender until smooth. Pour into glasses, then top with whipped cream, chopped pecans, and a mint sprig.
