Dreaming of a Caribbean vacation? Girl, same. Here’s why St. Croix should be your next Caribbean vacation!

St. Croix is one of the US Virgin Islands, meaning you don’t need a passport to visit. The currency is the US dollar and those with a US phone carrier can freely use their cell phone all over the island. That means you can use your navigation to drive around the island without roaming charges.

Where should you stay in St. Croix?

I stayed at The Buccaneer Resort, which is the largest resort on the island and one of my favorite resorts in the Caribbean. This family-friendly resort has three beaches, a gorgeous pool, three restaurants, spacious accommodations, and tons of fun for the whole family.

Mermaid Beach has tons of shade plus lounge chair service, and complimentary paddle boards, kayaks, and snorkeling gear. The white sand beach is so friendly to swim in! 

What is there to do in St. Croix?

Of course St. Croix also has tons of gorgeous public beaches all around the island as well as two rum distilleries, botanical gardens, and the only underwater national monument in the US. Snorkeling at Buck Island is truly a memorable experience.

Buck Island is a short boat ride away from St. Croix and definitely one of the top attractions in the area. I went with Caribbean Sea Adventures on my first trip to St. Croix and would recommend it to anyone!

Is Christiansted safe?

I always feel safe walking around St. Croix and Christiansted is no exception. The town is just a five minute drive from The Buccaneer and has art galleries, adorable shops, and delicious restaurants. I’ve always thought Christiansted looked and felt a bit like a Caribbean New Orleans with its vibey streets and love for jazz.

You can stroll along the boardwalk or venture inland a few streets to eat at one of the best courtyards on the island at 1756 Grotto. I feel like the whole island is full of foodies and everyone is so friendly, just like in Texas! Everyone was quick to give me the scoop on the best restaurants so when in doubt, just ask around.

Why should you visit St. Croix?

There’s so much to do and see on Saint Croix. Between the stunning sunsets, crystal clear waters, friendly people, and incredible culture, it’s no wonder that Saint Croix is one of my favorite islands in the Caribbean.
