Life is da bubbles at Dallas’ stunning new champagne bar! The folks behind Dallas hot spot Paradiso are opening a swanky new champagne room adjacent to their restaurant this week: Mermaid Raw Bar & Champagne Room. Located just outside Paradiso, this lovely patio is so beautifully decorated, I have half a mind to redo my whole backyard to match it. Just look at the impeccable decor!

Watch the episode:
Between the coral cushions, white furniture, rattan touches, tropical plants, and oversized umbrellas, I felt like I’d stepped into an island vacation. And don’t even get me started on the charming bubbles floating around the place. If you follow my Disney Dinners series, you know I love any and all whimsical touches. That’s the thing about the Mermaid Raw Bar: it’s fancy and yet totally laid-back at the same time. Kind of like The Rose Table!

We tried two kinds of oysters: Murder Point from Alabama and Cape Hatteras from North Carolina. I’m easy to please when it comes to oysters and the two were pretty similar.

We also got to try the Hamachi Crudo with tangerine and pomegranate. I love anything fresh and citrusy and this was such a pretty dish.

My favorite dish though was the Tuna Tartare. Oh my goodness. I don’t usually like spicy foods but this had enough sweetness from the cherries and peaches to balance the spiciness from the chilis. I highly recommend ordering this!

While it’s mainly a champagne room, Mermaid Raw Bar also has three signature cocktails. Irene got the Forever Sunset, a cranberry gin cocktail, and I got the Mermaid’s Sister, a beautifully adorned lemon vodka cocktail with Prosecco, very comparable to a French 75. (One of my favorite cocktails!) I was very happy with my cocktail. Be warned though: these are strong drinks!

And last but not least: the bathroom. This is for my mom, who always judges a restaurant on its bathroom. (She’s not wrong.) Mermaid Raw Bar uses Paradiso’s restroom and as you can see, it’s absolutely lovely.

Mermaid Raw Bar & Champagne Room opens Wednesday, July 14, 2021. If you want a gorgeous, Instagramy-worthy place to hang out and eat oysters, this new hang will delight you. See you there!
P.S. Thank you, Irene, for bringing me as your plus one today!
