Last weekend I took my niece to see Peter Pan at Texas Ballet Theater and it did not disappoint! We headed to the Winspear Opera House for the Saturday matinee and cooed over the tiny tots dressed as Tinkerbell.

One thing I have come to expect from TBT is a spectacle and this production was just that. My niece and I gasped when we saw the giant crocodile walk across the stage! The Neverland set design was so colorful and fun but my favorite part was definitely Captain Hook’s pirate ship.

Rieko Hatato was our Wendy for the matinee and brought such lightness and joy to the role. Eli Go brought a feral, Tarzan-like energy to Peter Pan, which I thought worked quite well! One of my favorite moments of the show was the flying dance. What a sight it was to see Peter point those toes upside down!
The dancing of course is always top-tier at TBT. Done behind a screen with a simple light trick, the shadow dance in the nursery was my absolute favorite. It made me wish I had incorporated a shadow element in my Peter Pan dinner party!

Thank you to Texas Ballet Theater for a wonderful afternoon in Neverland! Learn more about Texas Ballet Theater and see the full season here.
