Every year I say I’m going to blog more lake house content and every year I fall short. I had a cozy lake trip with my parents a couple of weeks ago and just had to share these beautiful pictures with you! Grab a hot chocolate and take a few minutes to breathe deep breaths and enjoy the serenity of the lake.

Happy hour by the fire
There’s no happy hour quite like a lake house happy hour! The water is such a beautiful, vibrant blue this time of year, which looks even more stunning dotted with fall foliage.

I decided to mark the occasion by opening a bottle I’ve been saving for years: 2020 The Source from Copia Vineyards, a wine I fell in love with on my last trip to Paso Robles. It was just as good as I remembered!

Ribs on the porch
I made my Maple Brown Sugar Ribs for dinner on the porch. Ribs are my dad’s favorite so I love to make this easy dish for him! My mom (who’s an excellent cook, as you all know!) whipped up mashed potatoes, southern style green beans, and deviled eggs for our fabulous Texas porch dinner.

White Chocolate Cranberry Pistachio Cookies
I baked these incredible cookies to take to the lake and they did NOT disappoint. Cookies are such a friendly thing to take to the lake. We were noshing on them all weekend long. Get the recipe here.

Last ride
We took the jet skis out for one last joy ride on the water. Bundled up in a cozy sweater now, it seems unbelievable that I was in a swimsuit just a couple of weeks ago but that’s Texas for you! It was definitely too cold to swim but it felt amazing on the water.

Other than that I was largely working with my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel on my lap and reading a book under the massive trees, soaking up every drop of the crisp fall air.

It was another wonderful trip to the lake! I’m already looking forward to the peace and quiet that January at the lake offers. I think we could all use a little more serenity in our lives.
