Girls Trip to Paso Robles

Justin Vineyard

I decided to celebrate my 35th birthday in style with a girls trip to Paso Robles, California with my best friend. I’ve been to California literally dozens of time but surprisingly, I’ve never been to central California. Paso Robles has long been on my bucket list thanks to its reputation for incredible food and wine and let me tell you: it did NOT disappoint. Here’s everything we did in Paso Robles.

Allegretto Vineyard Resort

The whole reason I wanted to visit Paso Robles in the first place was to visit one of my dream resorts: Allegretto Vineyard Resort. This four diamond hotel screams luxury at every turn. The entire property is a work of art! With serene gardens, a fantastic boutique spa, a vineyard and wine tasting, delicious food, fire pits, and garden games around every corner, you might not want to set a food off the property and that’s okay. Read all about Allegretto Vineyard Resort here, Spa Allegretto here and Cello Ristorante here.

Copia Vineyards

If you’re a foodie, you absolutely must try the wine flight and food pairing at Copia Vineyards! The cozy tasting room is beautifully appointed with views of the vines and every bite was out of this world. The best part is that Copia changes their menu seasonally, giving us all an excuse to visit every quarter. Read all about our tasting here.

Allegretto Wines

Want to stay on property? Take the vineyard tour and finish with a delightful tasting on Allegretto’s stunning courtyard. You’ll learn all sorts of great information about the artwork and zodiac garden before embarking on a leisurely tasting. Read all about it here.

Justin Vineyards & Winery

This sprawling vineyard is famous for its Michelin-star restaurant but you don’t have to break the bank to eat here! We had an incredible lunch al fresco and even in January, the view on the dog-friendly patio is gorgeous. Even if you aren’t that hungry, order the famous burger and truffle fries. it’s worth it! Read all about our tasting and lunch here.

Sensorio Paso Robles

No trip to Paso Robles would be complete without a stroll through Sensorio. The immersive walk-through art exhibit is a sight for sore eyes. With four exhibits (soon to be five!), food trucks, and drinks, there’s tons to see and do at Sensorio. Get terrace tickets to enjoy the best seat in the house and spend the evening gazing at what feels like the Emerald City. Read more about Sensorio here.

Downtown Paso Robles

Take a stroll around the adorable square, get some ice cream at Negranti Creamery, or pop into cute little shops like Pasolivo for fabulous souvenirs. There are tons of eateries and tasting rooms in downtown Paso Robles, many of which have live music on the weekends.

Beware: there are meters and they use them. We didn’t notice the meters on our first trip and got a $50 fine for not starting ours (despite not going over the time limit). Don’t make our mistake!

Hearst Castle

Okay, okay, it isn’t technically in Paso Robles but it’s only a 45 minute drive and it’s a must-do while you’re in SLO Cal! This epic mansion was originally built by publishing mogul William Randolph Hearst and today is open for tours so guests can gawk at the jaw-dropping architecture and insane collection of ancient artifacts. If you’re a history lover or just love touring incredible property, you absolutely have to visit Hearst Castle! Read all about our tour here.

Thomas Hill Organics

My best friend called this one of the best dinners of her life and I couldn’t agree more. The downtown restaurant has been serving up elevated Californian cuisine for over 14 years and is not to be missed. Be sure to get the steak. This is one of the top 5 steaks of my life, which is saying a lot considering I live in Dallas, Texas. Read all about our dinner here.

There is so much to see and do in Paso Robles! We barely scratched the surface. If you’re a foodie and/or wine enthusiast, Paso Robles deserves a visit. Are you a local? Drop your recommendations in a comment for our next trip to SLO Cal!
