Classic Hot Chocolate Recipe

Are you walkin’ in a winter wonderland? Or dreaming of frosted windowpanes, candles gleaming inside? Here are some of my favorite Snow Day Recipes!

Minestrone

This vegetable soup is incredibly healthy! Serve with freshly grated parmesan and crusty bread to nourish you and keep you warm. Get the recipe here here.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

What’s a better snow day cookie?! These fantastic, chewy cookies are super hearty and last for days. The perfect treat for the whole family! Get the recipe here.

One of my all-time favorite recipes! This one-bowl stew cooks in the oven for several hours, warming your whole house. It’s easy, it’s hearty, and it’s delicious. Get the recipe here.

Dutch Oven Bread & Braided Loaf

Run out of bread and can’t make it to the store? Make Dutch Oven Bread or my Braided Loaf. Both are incredibly easy bread recipes that even beginners to make. Pro tip: set your bowl by the fire. The heat will help the dough rise!

Maple Old Fashioned

There’s something about maple syrup on a snow day. This is the perfect cocktail for old weather! Get the recipe here.

Lemon Bars

It’s citrus season, baby! Brighten up a cold and dreary day with these fantastic white chocolate lemon bars. I’ve been making these for twenty years and they never get old! Get the recipe here.

Pot Roast

A classic for a reason. My mama’s pot roast is the best! It takes hours to cook so it’ll keep your house nice and toasty and feed the whole family. Get the recipe here.

Alpine Hot Chocolate

The ultimate rich cup of hot chocolate! I cna’t stop making this luxurious recipe. My friends said it’s the best hot chocolate they’ve ever had! Get the recipe here.

Cheddar Potato Leek Soup

There’s almost nothing I love more than potato soup in the winter! This recipe is so easy to make and so comforting. I especially love it topped with bacon. Get the recipe here.

Avalanche Bark

The name alone is worth it on a snow day! This is basically a deluxe Rice Krispy Treat. It makes a ton, it’s shelf stable, and stays perfectly fresh for days and days, making it a perfect treat to make with the kiddos when you’re snowed in. Get the recipe here.

Braised Beef Short Ribs

This dinner is so cozy and satisfying to make! Serve these insanely tender short ribs over mashed potatoes with bread to slop up the sauce. Get the recipe here.

Chocolate Cake

Please tell me I’m not the only person who wants chocolate cake on a snow day! I’m Texan, meaning we only get typically one snow event a year, and I think that deserves to be celebrated. Get the recipe here.

Homemade Granola Bars

Another great shelf-stable recipe to have on hand for snacking! Granola bars are easy to make and easy to customize. I love having stuff like this on hand in case I lose the power. Get the recipe here.

Pork Tenderloin

This is such an easy dinner to make to feed a crowd and is so cozy! It’s especially good topped with my mustard cream sauce. Yum! Get the recipe here.

Homemade Hot Cocoa

Don’t have chocolate bars on hand? Make homemade hot cocoa instead! My recipe is full of cinnamon and tastes extra cozy. Get the recipe here.

Chocolate Chip Pancakes

My buttermilk pancakes are hands down the BEST. Chocolate chips makes them even more snow day-special. Get the recipe here.

Baked Vermicelli

Think of this as an easier lasagna. This recipe makes a whole 9×13 dish that’ll keep your warm satiated on a snow day! Get the recipe here.

Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins

Almost every snow day, I either bake Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins or my Best Ever Banana Bread. If I lose the power, I know I won’t go hungry with either on the counter!

Roasted Chicken

One of my favorite things to make on a snow day is my roasted chicken! It roasts in the oven for hours, warming the whole house, and leftover shredded chicken is incredible for paninis. Plus, you can use the leftover carcass to make chicken broth for your soups! Get the recipe here. So perfect it’s even in The Rose Table Cookbook!

Orange Hot Chocolate

Jazz up your cocoa game with a splash of grand marnier – a 5 o’clock cocoa! Get the recipe here.

Classic Hot Chocolate

Is it even a snow day if you don’t enjoy a cup of hot chocolate? This is my go-to recipe when I want a warm beverage on a freezing day. Get the recipe here. It’s extra delicious with homemade marshmallows.

Stay warm and cozy!
