One of my favorite events of the year is the annual Tejas Carriage Association two-day event at Black Star Sport Horses. Black Star has 255 acres of woods and uses them for an epic cross-country carriage event on Sunday. On Saturday carriages compete in dressage and a cones course. I love setting up a picnic and watching the carriages go by. I used to drive my horse Prince and still think it’s the most me sport on the planet: what could be better than exercising my horse while wearing a formal gown?
This year I packed up a cheese board with Italian meats, French cheeses, Caribbean jam, Californian bread, and Greek honey. It was a trip around the world in one bite! I also packed up red grapes, salt and vinegar chips, marinated olives, pickles, dried fruit, and apples. (I admittedly saved some of the apples for my own horses!)
I packed up my Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread with Orange Glaze for dessert. It’s a great choice for a fall picnic because it makes two loaves so you’ll have plenty and it’s easily transportable.
You can get the recipe here and you can watch me make it here:
