I don’t talk about this often here on The Rose Table, but I am a huge at-home spa person. I do a manicure and facial every week, a pedicure and foot soak/scrub every other week, and I love to have girlfriends over for spa parties. Normally I set everything up inside but the garden is in full bloom so I decided to have my fellow spa-loving friend Sylvia over for a spa brunch in the garden.
I kept the food very simple: my favorite coconut muffins (which I made the day before), juicy berries, and delightful cucumber sandwiches that Sylvia made. (Side bar: is there anything lovelier than friends who offer to bring a dish over?!)
I normally serve spa water but Sylvia had the fabulous idea to have a tea flight. We each had a little teapot of hot water and worked out way through three teas: jasmine green tea, raspberry tea, and rose tea. We savored each one at a time before moving on to the next. It was such a sophisticated way to start the day.
I set out a variety of face masks: the soaked fabric kind that you lay on your face, my favorite Beekman blaak mask, and my favorite pumpkin mask from the Dream More resort. I also displayed my nail polish on a multi-tiered serving tray to be festive and spa-like.
I also set us up with foot soaks: I poured rose-scented epsom salt in buckets and filled them with hot water. Then I tore spent rose petals off of the stem and sprinkled the petals in the buckets for not only a gorgeous soak but also the benefit of the oil from the petals. We did the soaks first (don’t forget to have towels handy!), then started our mani/pedis and facials.
It was such a lovely morning in the garden! I hope you are inspired to host your own spa day with your girlfriends.
