Looking for an adorable Disney sandwich? You found it! I came up with Gaston’s Egg Salad Sandwich for my Beauty and the Beast Tea, inspired of course by the song Gaston and just how many eggs the man eats in a day.
Adorable sign by Enchanted Farmhouse Co
“When I was a lad I ate four dozen eggs
Every morning to help me get large And now that I’m grown I eat five dozen eggs So I’m roughly the size of a barge!”
I made my Classic Egg Salad the day before my tea so all I had to do at party time was spread the egg salad on bread. So simple! You really don’t need any additional mayonnaise on the bread, as the egg salad is plenty saucy.
The real kicker here is these adorable rose toothpicks, which absolutely scream Beauty and the Beast. I found these at a cute little local shop but you can get similar ones on Amazon.
Gastons’ Egg Salad Sandwich
8 slices honey wheat bread
6 eggs, hard boiled (recipe follows)
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 Tbsp pickle relish
1 tsp Dijon mustard
3/4 tsp white wine vinegar
1 Tbsp Fresh dill
Salt, pepper, paprika to taste
- Dice hard boiled eggs, then mix well with remaining ingredients, adjusting the seasoning as needed. Spread on a slice of bread, then top with another slice.
- Repeat with remaining sandwiches, then cut each sandwich in half. Top each sandwich with a toothpick rose.
How to Hard Boil Eggs
6 large eggs (at least a week old!)
Water
Ice
- Carefully set eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Place pan on stove and bring to a boil. When water begins to boil, cover pan with lid and remove from heat. Set a timer for 22 minutes.
- Prepare ice bath by filling a medium sized bowl with ice and water. Right when the timer goes off, remove eggs from saucepan with a slotted spoon and plunge into ice bath. Let sit in ice bath for about fifteen minutes, then remove and refrigerate or turn into deviled eggs!
