‘Tis the season to be eat, drink, and be merry! I’ve partnered with Smithfield to share a fun and easy entertaining idea this holiday season: a bacon flight. What says party faster than bacon?
I roasted slices of Smithfield Thick Cut Hickory Smoked Bacon several different ways: brushed with maple syrup, rubbed with brown sugar, and brushed with warm honey spiced with cayenne pepper. Set bacon on a cooling rack sprayed with cooking spray on a jelly roll pan lined with foil for easy clean up. Bake at 375 for 20-25 minutes or until crisp (I like my bacon extra crispy!) and arrange on a serving board with wintry herbs.
Isn’t it pretty? I actually prefer bacon room temperature, not hot from the oven, so this is a great little make-ahead appetizer. I was shocked to discover that I actually prefer brown sugar rubbed bacon to maple syrup brushed bacon, which I didn’t think was possible. Next I want to try a brown sugar + cayenne combination. The possibilities are endless for a bacon flight. Comment and tell me about your favorite way to eat bacon!

Maple caramel bacon crack. You know, the crescent roll bacon things with maple and brown sugar. Maybe I shouldn’t have mentioned it. Now, like any crack addict, I must have some.
I’m drooling reading this!
