I’m known for over-the-top dinner parties but I’m making an effort to bring you more easy entertaining ideas too. Last weekend I set my back patio table for the loveliest simple garden supper.
The Table
I set the table with a white scalloped tablecloth and floral plates – my favorite to use in the springtime! – on my woven chargers. I love the outdoor rustic elegance of those chargers. It was a little windy so I opted for sturdy stemless outdoor wine glasses and kept the wine cool with my silver wine bucket.
I walked over and snipped some chocolate peppermint and a few branches of my fabulous Peggy Martin Climbing Rose for the centerpiece. I absolutely love adorning a table with fresh flowers that I’ve grown! Besides, I needed to trim Peggy Martin anyway so I really killed two birds with one stone.
The Food
I made roasted beet salad with grilled chicken, goat cheese, and almonds for dinner. Dinner came together very quickly because I grilled the chicken the day before and roasted the beets in the morning. All that’s left is five minutes of prep!
A nice hearty appetizer like my strawberry fields crostini or smoked salmon crostini would be perfect with this, or you could do something snacky like my lemon garlic hummus or white cheddar crackers.
It was a warm day, so I made Orange Popsicles for dessert. My Snickerdoodle Sandwiches or Blueberry Cheesecake Jars would also be a nice end to this meal!
The Wine
I served Kuhlman Cellars 2021 Kuhlmanation Estate Rosé with dinner. This my favorite of their estate rosés to date. I first tasted it during my spring visit to the hill country, which you can read about in detail here, and just had to bring a bottle back with me!
I love a dry rosé and Kuhlman Cellars does them so well! This is perfectly refreshing for the summertime with notes of tart strawberry and a kiss of vanilla. It’s lip-smacking good with Tex-Mex too!
This looks delightful – chocolate mint how unique!
