My birthday trip to Allegretto Vineyard Resort has been nothing short of magical. We started off my actual birthday with an Allegretto Wines vineyard tour and wine tasting here at the resort. The two-hour event began at 10 am with a tour of the property and ended with a tasting in the courtyard. (Note: you can just do one or the other.) We got to see quite a bit of the resort’s exquisite gardens during the hour-long tour. If you’re staying at the resort, it’s a great way to learn more about the property.

Vineyard Tour
The weather was absolutely gorgeous for our leisurely stroll around the property. We got to see where the adorable alpacas and sheep live, we learned all about the zodiac garden, and we even toured the abbey all before heading up the hill to main vineyard. (PSA: You’ll want to wear comfortable shoes for the tour, as we walked at least a mile and up a steep hill!) There our tour guide pointed out the second vineyard high up in the mountains in Willow Creek.
Most notably, we learned the heart-wrenching story behind Allegretto’s healing gardens. The owner’s son tragically lost his life in a car accident. Dylan is very much part of the heart of Allegretto now; even the main meeting room is named after him so that he’s part of all of the decisions. I had a lump in my throat hearing that. What a wonderful way to honor someone.

The gardens are designed to promote peace and serenity, as designing them helped the owner through his grief. As you all know, the last year and a half of my life has been pretty devastating and I have been a ball of anxiety and heartbreak. I told Sarah on our first full day that I feel more at peace at Allegretto than I have in years. Turns out, it’s designed to help you heal. How lovely is that?
The Tasting
Our tasting began at 11 am on the tasting room’s courtyard. I’m so happy we got to sit outside and enjoy the stunning Tuscan views of Allegretto Vineyard Resort. Our tasting included five wines and couldn’t have been less rushed. We easily could have sat there for an hour and a half! A few delicious food items were available for purchase to enjoy with the tasting, but sadly we were just too stuffed from breakfast at Cello.

We tried six Allegretto Wines during our tasting. Our favorites were the 2022 Duetto (a fabulous blend of Viognier and Vermentino), a bonus taste of rosé that smelled exactly like my Strawberry Galette, and the 2019 Willow Creek Cabernet Sauvignon with hints of vanilla and a juicy mouthfeel.

The vineyard tour and tasting is not to be missed on your trip to Allegretto Vineyard Resort! Read more about my girls trip to Paso Robles here. Watch the episode:
