A healthy Greek yogurt sauce with cucumber and garlic
Tzatziki is another wonderful Greek speciality: it’s healthy, garlicky, and super easy to make. If you can stir, you can make tzatziki. The only challenge is grating the cucumber, which is imperative for a thick tzatziki.
You can use this as a dip with veggies, as a sauce for grilled meat, or as a spread in a gyro. (Check out my Chicken Gyro recipe here.) I served tzatziki at Disney Dinners: Hercules as part of a Mezze Platter and it got rave reviews!

1 medium cucumber
1 cup plain Greek yogurt (Greek Gods is my favorite)
1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 tsp vinegar
1/2 tsp salt
1 Tbsp fresh dill, chopped
1 clove garlic, chopped
- Peel cucumber. Slice lengthwise and use a spoon to scoop out seeds. Carefully grate cucumber into shreds. Squeeze cucumber in a cheese cloth and squeeze to remove excess water.
- Stir with remaining ingredients and chill for one hour. Great as a healthy dip or sauce!
